(About Eyelash Extensions)Can I Apply Fake Eyelashes On Top Of Eyelash Extensions?

Oct. 23rd 20203 min read

You’ve got a big event coming up and your lash extensions… well, they’ve seen better days. You could use a fill, like yesterday.

You can’t get a fill appointment last minute, so you open your bathroom cabinet and reach for some fake eyelashes.

What’s the harm, right?

Wrong!

Wearing falsies over your eyelash extensions can seriously damage your lashes, both natural and extensions.

Here are four reasons why you absolutely, definitely, should never, ever wear falsies over eyelash extensions.

#1: FALSIES DAMAGE YOUR EXTENSIONS… AND YOUR NATURAL LASHES!

Removing false eyelashes can be very harsh on both your extensions and your natural lashes.

When you remove your false eyelashes, you will also pull out your extensions. Falsie glue is harsh and strong: it will overpower the grip of your extensions on your natural lashes, yanking them out. You’ll be even more in need of a fill than you were before you used the falsies.

You’ll also be harm your natural lashes. The falsie glue will pull out your natural lashes, too, in some cases causing irreparable damage.

#2: FALSIE GLUE IS SUPER HARD TO CLEAN

The falsie glue will stay on your lash line for-ev-er. In order to properly remove falsie glue, you need to use water AND rub.

But remember: when you have eyelash extensions, you can’t rub your eyes, or you’ll damage your eyelash extensions.

You’re stuck in a Catch 22: you need to remove your falsie glue, but you can’t remove the glue without damaging your extensions (and your natural lashes).

So basically, you’ll be stuck with the falsie glue on your lash line for WEEKS until you can remove your extensions and then FINALLY remove the falsie glue safely.

#3: FALSIES WILL WEIGH DOWN YOUR LASH EXTENSIONS

Think about it: adding falsies is like adding a whole entire other set of lashes to your eyes. That will get heavy, fast.

Lash extensions already add some extra weight to your natural lashes. When you add falsies, you’ll be adding even more weight: that of the falsie set and their glue.

That extra weight will do two things:

It will weigh down your extensions. That means they won’t be as fluffy and voluminous anymore. When you remove the falsies, your extensions may bend down into your eye or stick straight out, eliminating their effect.

It will cause damage and premature shedding. The extra weight can cause your extensions and your natural lashes to break off. No good!

#4: WEARING FALSIES IS WASTING YOUR MONEY

Falsies might seem like a quick, cheap fix, but they’ll actually cause way more damage and cost way more money.

You’ve spent a lot of money on eyelash extensions: why ruin them with falsies? You’ll likely have to spend EXTRA money to fix your extensions after the falsies, so it’s not worth the risk (or the cash).

FALSIES OVER EYELASH EXTENSIONS: JUST SAY NO

It’s super tempting to try wearing falsies over your extensions, especially if you’re getting ready for an event and your extensions are looking a little sparse.

It’s not worth it, though!

Wearing falsies can seriously damage your extensions and your natural lashes. Instead, make sure to schedule a fill appointment before your big events. Your lashes will thank you!
